MK_mugshotMatt Kadosh is the managing editor for The Item of Millburn and Short Hills, where he is passionate about producing community news for readers of the paper’s print and online editions.

He covers the Board of Education as well as the township’s six elementary schools, middle school and high school, in addition to writing breaking news and enterprise stories.

Since joining the paper in October 2014, Matt was awarded by the New Jersey Press Association for his coverage of Board of Education campaign finance in the story “How much does a BOE seat cost these days?”

The NJPA also recognized him, along with the paper’s former managing editor and current editor, for their coverage of the often-heated student residency debate in Millburn. In addition, Matt lays out the paper’s education pages and oversees the newspaper’s social media.

Prior to his time at The Item, Matt served as a reporter at Passaic Valley Today for five years, where select of his stories appeared in The Record and Herald NewsDuring his time at Today, he wrote community news covering Little Falls, Woodland Park and Totowa with a focus on municipal politics.

While there, he spearheaded production of a special section that detailed a history of Woodland Park for the borough’s 100th anniversary. The municipality was formerly known as West Paterson. The NJPA named the edition the second best special issue in New Jersey for packaging the news in 2014.

Matt’s stories have been published in numerous other publications, including the Daily Record in Morris County, where he interned, his hometown newspaper The Progress and NewJerseyNewsRoom.com.

A graduate of William Paterson University, Matt studied journalism in the university’s communication department.
